Bangkok: Where to buy quality travel gear?

What do you mean by "travel gear?" If you mean camping stuff, there
is a store along Sukhumvit that I have gone past on my way to the
Emporium that has pretty good stuff.

But keep in mind: *real* stuff will be imported so will more more expensive
than back home, considering all the duties, transportation and especially
considering that the market for high-end travel gear is much smaller in
Thailand.

Are you sure they were original products, not copies? Be careful, some
copies look *very* authentic.

I was on the point of buying a pair of Nikes, which looked original
enough to me, and the price was very good. As the shopkeeper handed
them to me I noticed they were packaged in nothing more than an
unmarked plastic bag. I thought to myself, genuine Nike products come
in a box with product information printed all around it. When I
questioned the shopkeeper she offered me a few hundred Baht off the
price, but by that time the game was already up.

There is a good outdoors type shop at Central Laard Praaw shopping centre,
also the "Sports World" outlets have a good selection as well. There is one
at Imperial Shopping Centre in Laard Praaw Road.

version for the home market and sell them without all the fancy
packaging .
If you want the full blown Nikes at full blown prices they are
available too.
