Be aware that free reconditioned (revived to 85%-99% of original
power) AA and AAA alkaline batteries, as well as CR2 and CR123
(CR123A) photo lithium batteries are given away FREE in Vancouver,
British Columbia, Canada to any cyclist. The intent of the Battery
ReUSE Program is to encourage green, alternative tourists to visit
Vancouver. Touring cyclists can use these recycled (reused, but good)
batteries for bike headlights and blinkie LED tail lights for night
cycling.

These revived (restored) batteries are available at many locations and
events, e.g. tourist and bike-route areas, including:
The Swiss Bakery, 3rd Avenue at Main Street
Our Town Cafe, Kingsway at Broadway (near Main)

Used batteries are also accepted at any of the 150+ battery restore
locations in Greater Vancouver, including many bike and photo (camera)
shops.
