Ft Lauderdale Parking

Take a look at this website, it has hotels that if you stay one night, you can leave your car while you are gone. We booked a a parksleepfly package with them when we flew to St. Thomas and it worked well. http://www.parksleepfly.com/index.ph...20515&trackID= sue |

I haven't cruised out of Florida for many years, perhaps ten, but when I did, I found Ft Lauderdale far superior to any of the other Florida ports. Cleanliness, friendliness, convenience to airport all favored Ft. L. on my cruises. Is that still the case, or have you had the same experience? Any others wish to offer their thoughts? I've had a few ports that were really pleasant, Baltimore for instance, and that becomes a serious factor in selecting my cruises. I like good experiences. Harry Cooper |

We have cruised out of Fort Lauderdale many times recently. Taxi's are easy to get and not all that expensive. Hotels can be very expensive, but that depends on the time of year and also the hotel you pick. If you stay at a hotel on 17th st., there are lots of restaurant and stores within walking distance. We haven't cruised out of Miama for some time, so I can't comment on it. We cruised out of Tampa last year and found it to be a very good experience and will be cruising out of Tampa again in a few days. Last time we stayed at one of the Holiday Inn's that had shuttle service from the airport and to the pier. On the way home we took a taxi to the airport, no problems. This time we are staying at the Residence Inn by the airport and if you remind me when we get home, I can give you more information. The port and the airport impressed us last time, will see what we feel this time. Keep in mind that when we fly down for a cruise, we go a day ahead and just hang around the hotel area, we don't do any sightseeing. sue |

Harry Cooper I have gone on cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale 4 times (Princess and Costa cruises) in the past 2 years and have enjoyed the port, it's closeness to the airport and hotels, etc. We always go down to the area the night before and then use the hotel's shuttle to the port. I have only had a bad experience one time and that was the first time I sailed on Princess and that issue has been resolved by the port and cruise line so it won't happen again to us or anyone else. I think the port is easier to use than Port Canaveral, Miami, Los Angeles or New Orleans. I also think you are correct in the friendliness of the people working at the port. |
