Default Routing to Belize?

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to plan a trip from Vancouver (YVR) to Belize (BZE) in
mid-October. Ideally I'd like to use Star Alliance Air Canada Aeroplan
miles for this trip. The only Star Alliance carrier that services
Belize is US Airways, and I'm worried they may not be around in October
so I'm trying to explore other options.

To that end, can anyone suggest a routing that gets me as close to BZE
as possible on a (non-US Airways) Star Alliance or Mexicana flight -
I'm thinking that from there I could take an inexpensive puddle-jumper
to BZE.

Thanks in advance (Please reply here, email address is a spam-trap).

Cheers,
Geoff Glave

Have you considered AirCanada to Houston?

I have, but IAH = BZE on CO is $433 USD and I was wondering if I could get
a little closer than Houston... (ergo cheaper) on a Star Alliance or
Mexicana flight. (Also, the AC routing to IAH is kind of annoying from
YVR.)

However, closer may well not mean cheaper. You probably need to get a
hard copy OAG and backtrack from BZE.

If you can get to Houston or Miami, look into fares from there to BZE
on Grupo TACA.

No sweat, use US Air, they aren't going anywhere. Even if they did crash
(bad use of word), their Caribbean routes are profitable for them and
another carrier would immediatey assume their routes and honor your rez.
