A quick glance at my Michelin road atlas suggests :
Bangkok in July - temperatures around 28-30 C, rainfall around 15-20 mm
Phuket, similar temperatures, but rainfall 50% higher.

Try here http://www.worldweather.org/089/m089.htm for more info -
offers both locations 8 )

As Tchiowa says we're getting a lot of rain now, I drove through
Pattaya on Wednesday and stopped for lunch there, the skies opened and
it poured down for about half an hour. the waitress said it is raining
in Pattaya almost every day. It rains almost every night in Bangkok,
often with some thunder and lightning. It rained overnight and it's
raining lightly now.
BTW. Pattaya is very quiet at present.

Perhaps you buy a new atlas or better still - learn to read your
contemporary one. As you can see the chart shows the precipitation in
centimeters rather than millimeters. Anyways, July is quite decent time to
visit Bangkok. Actually anytime is pretty good.

Ooops - mea cupla, Markku - you are correct, and my eyesight must have been
playing tricks on me - or (more likely) I just didn't pay enough attention.

Well caught! I shall retire to the pavilion for tea and tiffin 8 )

*****************

We *have* had a lot of rain lately but then it is the rainy season!

It has rained in Bangkok since early this evening with local flooding
in some areas.

Don't be too concerned, rain won't spoil your holiday, come and
enjoy yourselves
