Hmmm...I don't think I'm old enough either, but it seems to work for
me.

I'm only 50 and I enjoyed my one cruise on HAL.

Well, Bill...I'm only 44.

Enough that we are
looking at booking another one soon on the Westerdam.
It's a little sleepy at night but I just go to bed earlier, about midnight.

As has been discussed in the past, the mood on the ship is very
dependent on each week's complement of passegers. Sleepiest ship I've
ever been on was the Carnival Miracle and one of the rowdiest (very
active disco every night, until the wee hours) was the HAL Zuiderdam.
You just never know what you're gonna get.

Depends on what kind of cruise I'm looking for, a relaxing one, or a
more active one.

I pick my cruises based on itinerary and price, primarily. I really
don't pick them with the potential onboard atmosphere in mind, because
what is billed as a high energy or low key cruise ain't necessarily
so.

What do you
guys think?

1) Being assigned beach towels and being held responsible for their
return (Carnival). Much prefer HAL's towel policy - take as many as
you wish, dump the dirties in the bin. No one knows how many you have
- no one seems to care. Honor system....lovely.

When we go to our cabin on Carnival, I merely leave a note asking the
steward to remove the towels. This eliminates the clutter and potential
cost.

Soooo....you bring your own towels from home to use out on deck and in
port? Not something I'd want to do. I don't do laundry on vacation,
and the thought of using the same beach towels every day for the whole
week just doesn't appeal to me, at all.

If things are overpriced, I don't buy them. If there's art in the

It doesn't cost anything to look. You walk through looking at your
feet? How do you avoid crashing into other passengers?

I think the art is ugly. At least what I've seen is.

I don't actually look at my feet, I just look at the floor a bit ahead
of where I'm walking. Unless the other passengers are levitating, I
won't crash into them.

I just walk through the art displays - paying attention to where I'm
going, not paying much attention to the art they're selling. But, I
never found the art displays to be offensive or in the way of my
forward progress. Heck, I could go to the Museum of Modern Art in NYC
and find things I'd be hard pressed to call art, but I don't divert my
eyes...

I don't like them making a slalom course out of the lobby.

Since these tend to be the things that irritate many of the readers
here, who can suggest the names of cruise lines that don't have most
of these problems?

For me, I find that HAL has the fewest on my list of annoyances.

Good to know.

FWIW, I've been thinking about the Paul Gaugon (sic) in French
Polynesia; perhaps someone can comment on its "irritation" factor, as
I was serious when I said that my last cruise didn't have any of these
annoyances. Of course, it was on a ("very") small ship line, Cruise
West, where there is no pool, no casino, no bingo, etc, so no
possibility of irritations from these sources.

There was a photographer, but he didn't have any organized portrait
'traps' at any time. The photos from the trip (both of people and of
scenes) were put onto a CD and were available for $20, with 100% of
the proceeds going to benefit their "Our Bear Cares" charity:

Thank you Lee, I was afraid it was against the rules and didn't know it.
We 'monopolize' tables too, as we play cards, visit with each other,
make new friends, read and just chill out. Oh and we have been known to
eat lunch at the same table! Yep, that's the kind of folk we are, so
watch out for us. We don't leave things on the chairs and such, we just
have a revolving group. And get this we are seniors and on a budget!

Peaches, it is nice to see you back.

What bothers me when I cruise, is how rude people are to handicapped
people at the elevators.

If you ever notice anyone in a wheelchair or a scooter, please step
aside and allow them to enter the elevator when the elevator door opens.
I was with a friend in a scooter, and we had to wait until the 3rd
elevator, because everyone would walk around us to get on the elevator
as soon as the door opened. It was like this lady was invisible. What
did they think we were standing there for?

Let us hope you will not be the next one in a wheelchair or a scooter.

Nonny isn't joking. They spray each other off in the shower, and then
just wait til they drip dry. That is, of course, on the days that they
do shower at all.
