Default A frame towbars - Where to get one built in Melbourne

Hi All,

My Father-in-Law has a 40ft Leyland bus that he has just converted
into a very nice motorhome. He has also brought a Suzuki Sierra that
he wants to tow off the back of the motorhome via an "A frame". He
has tried a few companies in Melbourne to get one built, but has hit a
brickwall every time. Does anyone have any leads in Melbourne where he
could get one built or plans for an A frame that he could could show
to the possible companies? He has checked with the RTA and yes it can
be done!

Thanks

Phil

The NSW RTA has a list of engineers who are approved to certify A Frames so
its probably worthwhile getting in touch with them as they will be able to
give you some ideas as to what is required. Its my understanding that you
would need an engineers certificate to ensure that the thing is road legal
anyway.

NSW has slightly different regs for trailers if I remember correctly -
something to do with the gross weight of the trailer exceeding 750kgs and
the trailer needs to have brakes acting on all wheels.

Try posting to aus.cars and/or aus.cars.offroad as well.

Go to www.cmca.net.au and check 'Members Market' I spend a fair bit of time
