Default Breaking news regarding Travel

Hey folks, turn on CNN or check out your favorite internet news site. There
has been 21 arrests in England of people who were planning to bomb planes
coming to the US. Our national security level is at "red". NO liquids or
gels are being allowed on any planes, domestically or internationally, and
the hold up in airports is extreme. No water bottles, makeup, hand
sanitizer, deodorant, tooth paste, etc is being allowed in carry on bags.
There are people throwing away hundreds of dollars of stuff so they can
board. Check your carry on carefully and they are recommending really
de-cluttering it to get through security in the most expedient manner.
Thank God they caught these guys.

Heard something about this at work this morning as I was leaving. Will have
to turn on the tv before I go to sleep.

This happens ever year around this time (sept 11th) they just try to re
assure us every year and make it look like they are doing something, they
never say what, where or who and all the details are always very vague. itll
all be back to normal in 2 or 3 days time. If they want to blow up planes
they can do it wherever and whenever they want!

Glad that it happened now, and not early Oct. I've have had to fill a trash
recepticle with contact lens solution, tooth paste, etc. Oh well, whatever we
need to do to comply. It will be interesting to see what goes on/comes off the
forbidden list of items.

This tells me that I need to renew my Red Carpet Club membership, so I "wait
it out," after getting to LHR three hours early. At least UAL still (or did -
who knows tomorrow) hand out little kits with toothbrush, tooth paste, and the
like to BC and FC. Now, how I'll handle the contacts remains to be seen. Maybe
I can drink some of the saline in front of the security folk, or, maybe not.
Guess I'll have to fly with my glasses.

I don't understand why anyone would quibble with the instructions
about what may or may not be carried on. Is it worth a hassle in the
light of already delayed conditions to argue about your contact lens
solution? I have never understood people who want to test the
security instructions, whether or not they think they are wise. One
obstructive person just makes it a bit more difficult for everyone
else while airport personnel have to stop to argue with him. I,
myself, would prefer to have the utmost precautions taken when
faced with a threatened attack. And I certainly don't appreciate
passengers who delay things in order to "make their stand."

There are billions of dollars being spent to keep up the military presence in
Iraq and Afghanistan. The arms business is raking in a bundle and, as a bonus to
the oil companies, the situation has created an oil shortage that has led to
record profits. Hence, someone wants to keep the pressure on, make us fear
terrorism and, most important, keep those profits tolling in.

You should rephrase that to say, "Thank God they Caught SOME of these guys".
Last report I heard was they'd arrested 24, but, there are more still being
sought. KM

So, buy some common stock in Exxon Mobil and get on the gravy train. KM

Yeah, when weighing the inconvenience of having to ditch my contact lens
solution and tooth paste versus the inconvenience of having my aircraft
blown up over the Atlantic, I think I'll vote for the former. Once a bomb
is detonated on a trans-Atlantic flight, I doubt if my contact lens solution
and my toothpaste would be among the first things that flash into my mind as
I plummet into the ocean. KM
