Default "Cheap" Greek Island sought!

A few years ago this usenet group was most helpful in suggesting a
venue for a family Greek island beach holiday without - as basil
fawlty would put it - any "riff raff".

With this help we identified Sifnos, and in particular vathi which has
proved to be absolutely spot on - quiet, hardly any Brits (and
certainly no multi tatted,. sov ringed and shell suit wearing ones!)
but suitably down to earth - no vast array of water sports, discos and
other modern trappings. However its own success has invery recent
times driven the cost of accomoadtyion up dramatically ... 50%
increases in two years, and now typically in excess of 150 euros a
night for the 5 of us.

As such are there any other possible venues in the Greek islands that
anyone can suggest? Typically I suppsoe we'd be looking for

* island with no flight access ie Ferry only (but ferry journey 3
hours from port). Port could be not only Piraeus but anywhere where
its fairly easy to fly to e.g. any of the package holiday islands
* beaches suitable for middle aged children (9, 12, 14) and parents -
maybe a taverna on the beach ? :-) Where some reasonable swimming is
possible (Vathi has a 750m wide bay that is perfect for a pre
breakfast swim there and back), no great surf (ie not dealing with
waves constantly)
* "cheap" accomodation for 5 ( 100 Euros a night) with some basic
cooking facilities
*basic services e.g. taverna, local shop for basic foodstuffs etc

I appreaciate that's a fairly specific list ... but feel free to
suggest away if you have a place in mind but don;t have any other
specifics anyway.

And if I sound like a holiday snob... well.. I'll have to accept that
accusation I guess. We know what we want and what we don;t :-)

cheers

Greek island are not cheap anymore

Germans have left to Bulgaria
and are replaced
by Nordics

For the Nordics, its still cheap, means less expensive then home (:-)

Sorry for the others which cannot pay anymore, thats the Market
competition......................
