Default Virus on Summit?

Just got the wife home from 14 days on the Summit. Last 5 days and
nights she spent in our cabin with three trips to medical. Yesterday
was spent at Highlands Hospital near Seatac Airport Seattle. Diana is
still sick but some better. Been trying to get ahold of anyone at
Celerbity with no luck. It is 8pm sat. evening now. Any of you good
people with a phone number please let me know. I need copies of medical
records from the ship for my doctor here in Cincinnati.

Also anyone else sick on this trip let me know. Five of the ten people
at our table were sick. Three of the ladies received IV Fluids and other
med.s.

Some at the Hospital said Norwalk, one said food poison. Blood test by
CDC is only way to be sure.

Need your help please
Tom in Kentucky (Greater Cinn.)

Actually a stool sample and test is the most common test for Norwalk-like virus
from everything I've read both on the boards from RNs and the CDC website.

My wife works with medical records here in California. She says the standard
medical release should work.

1. Wherever you are, get the fax number where you want your wife's medical
records sent to.

2. Get the phone number for the ship in question, should be in with all the
paper work from the cruise. Call the ship and get connected to the medical
staff. Explain the situation , they MAY send the records via fax due to the
situation. Most likely they will require a medical information release before
they send anything.

3. If they require a release, go to the medical records department of the
hospital your wife is at. Explain the situation, they should be able to provide
a blank release for your wife to sign. The current release is a full page of
legal jargon.

4.After your wife signs the form, fax it to the ship in question with a cover
sheet explaining the emergency and who needs to get the records release on the
ship. This should work, but since the ship is most likely in international
water, who knows what rules they go by.

Hi Thomas-
We were on that 14 day Summit cruise also. I came down with a bad case of
some type of stomach illness during the port stop in Seattle. I've got a
pretty tough stomach but this one sent me to sick bay too. Real bad
symptoms (began having symptoms after walking around Pikes Market and
downtown Seattle) but I didn't have a temperature. Wow... but I was okay
in about 36 hours. He gave me Immodium and an antinausea medication. My
wife was okay...no problems from her. Hope your wife continues improving.

I would THINK
that after docking those records would go to Corporate. I don't see any
reason
they would stay on the ship.

They may or may not. The issue here is time. The passenger is in the hospital
now and the information has to get to the doctor now.
