The EU has ruled in a Dutch case that they have no right to keep your existing licence. You can also drive on your shiny new UK licence for 10 years without needing to get an Italian license. Tim Challenger posted on this subject last year. As a result my daughter was saved the expense of getting a UK licence in addition to her Dutch driving license. See http://europa.eu.int/youreurope/nav/...nition/en.html for the good news and the bad news. Hmmm... not so bad... and the good news They have no way of knowing that you started with an Oz licence and got a UK licence on the basis of having an Oz licence. I got a Dutch licence by showing an Oz licence before half of Holland started having cheap driving test holidays in the USA and places like Egypt. Eventually the Dutch closed the loop hole. Ah, no real problem then. I have at least ten years up my sleeve. -- --- DFM - http://www.deepfriedmars.com --- -- |
