How Does the Food Rate On Carnival vs Princess
Monica wrote: I know this is subjective but just wanted to get some thoughts. Monica For dinner in the dining room and breakfast in the buffet, I think both are very good, about equal. Carnival lunch buffets are far superior to those on Princess, much better varieety. Then you have the International Cafe on Princess and that is also very good. sue |

How Does the Food Rate On Carnival vs Princess
Monica wrote: I know this is subjective but just wanted to get some thoughts. Monica Having sailed on both lines, I believe that it is "too close to call" as regards food quality and service. Both Lines are quite good - maybe not super foo-foo but very good with enough variety to satisfy anyone but an super food freak. The steaks were all very good, and the servers all were attentive and helpful. Cheers, John in LALALand (On the Left Coast) |

Gadget World wrote: The food on Princess is far superior and more plentiful. When was the last time you were on Carnival? On our most recent Carnival cruises, 2004 and 2008. the food was very good, no complaints. The only reason we don't cruise Carnival anymore is there is a lot of smoke in the lounges and casinos. This is a huge health problem for me, so I just avoid it. sue |

Monica Hi, Monica, I'm with the others who've commented favorably on the quality and variety of Carnival's food as compared to Princess. I love Princess, and especially their signature Italian cuisine, but...very generally...I tend to think of Princess' approach to dining as being fairly conservative, while Carnival's is rather ambitious. The options seem endless, and at an individual dish level, Carnival can be surprisingly innovative. Make sure to explore every nook and cranny of the buffet and even ask servers about "hidden" areas--we have learned after disembarking that we missed a certain section. And be warned: If you order the chocolate melting cake once, you are at risk of ordering it every night thereafter! I see from your other post that you are cruising on the Carnival Ecstasy (because Princess no longer has a ship in Texas -- bums me out, too). We've never done the Ecstasy, but we have sailed on the Conquest (as well as the Grand P and other lines) out of Galveston. If you are taking a 4- or 5-night cruise on the Ecstasy, you should probably lower your expectations as to food (and everything) from the overall impressions you've formed based on taking 7-night cruises...and then be delightfully surprised when Carnival exceeds your expectations! I'm guessing that the grand suite life will be pretty wonderful! Have a great time, and come back and tell us about it, Diana Ball Austin, TX |

How Does the Food Rate On Carnival vs Princess
Thank you for all the replies Italian...YES! That (and the lobster) was
some of our favorite on our Princess cruises. One night we raved and raved about a particular dish and the next night the chef included with our meal again Diana, "hidden" areas?? Can you give me a couple of clues? lol I've read so much about this chocolate melting cake. It must be to die for Originally, I thought our 3 yr old grandson would be traveling with us and that's why we booked a grand suite. I invited him but his mother said no I can understand her concerns but I'm still a bit bummed. I looked into downsizing to a regular balcony suite but was concerned about the noise from the deck above. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all tho. I'm happy to stay where I am "D Ball" wrote in message ... On Dec 9, 10:51 pm, "Monica" wrote: I know this is subjective but just wanted to get some thoughts.
