Some advice req - New York and Florida

Anyone recommend an area in Florida that has beaches but has a
coupel of
theme parks close by (i.e somewhere you can go in a day and back)

Are these many large theme parks around the NY area? (i am guessing
there
are no beaches?)

Seems like everyones been to NY and Florida and have opinions so I'll
just add mine.
First, there are some great beaches near nyc. I used to go to Jones
beach and Robert Moses park.
I mis-spent alot of my youth in Florida.
Miami beach is great, but can be fairly expensive for hotels and
nightlife. No big amusement parks nearby.
Orlando is fun for familys and adults looking for a resort-type
experience. Plenty of theme parks including all of Disney world but
the beach isn't very close.
I would recommend Clearwater Beach. Perfect place to party in the sun.
Hotels range from pricey condos on the beach to cheap dives a few
blocks away and everything in between. Bush Gardens theme park is only
30-40 minutes away but you'll need a car to get there.
You might also want to look into Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Nice
beaches, tons of young people, countless bars and clubs open late,
cheap places to stay and arcades and amusement parks right on the
beach.

Many roller coaster enthusiasts feel that Cedar Point has
the best collection of coasters in the U.S. But unfortunately
it's a long drive from New York (I'd guess around 10 hours).

That can be argued but it does, without question, have the most
steel-coasters to be found at any one place.

I was there in 1974 and I thought it was exceedingly awesome.
Although the fun house did smell a little like pee. LOL. I didn't
ride any rides (not my thing, sorry), but I loved just walking around
and looking at the kitchy buildings and just enjoying the place. I
also loved it that you could actually buy a BEER there, which most
theme parks do not offer.
