Also, where can I get timetables for trains from narita to tokyo. I tried to find the hyperdia website but don't seem to find it. Please help! Hyperdia site (in English) seems to have disappeared. Another site for travel info (but no timetable) is http://www.japanhomesearch.com/TravelExpert/TE_main.asp Try JR-East homepage on Narita Express: http://www.jreast.co.jp/nex/index.htm Alec |

It looks like the english Hyperdia site is undergoing a server upgrade and will be back up about a month from now. So you can go to Jorudan's web site to get train information based on the date and time of day that you are travelling: http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/nor...norikeyin.html Jose AmiCode(1.0.0) MA:5[6]X:**O:d-a-hu++ Note: Junk block string attached to e-mail address |

Japan Rail questions
"EAC" wrote in message m... (wanderer) wrote in message . com... Is a ordinary Japan Rail pass valid for the JR Yamanote Loop Line in Tokyo? All JR (JR East, JR Central, JR West, JR Shikoku, JR Hokkaido, and JR Kyushu) lines can be used with the Japan Rail Pass. Plus JR buses, highway buses and ferry to Miyajima. What the Japan Rail Pass doesn't cover is the use of non-JR lines, and it is also not valid for the use the JR Nozomi train operated by JR Central and JR West in the JR Tokaido Shinkansen and the JR Sanyo Shinkansen, and it also not valid for the use of certain classes (like sleeping compartments, compartements, and so on). You simply pay the supplement for sleeping berth, private room etc. But you aren't allowed to ride on Nozomi at all. You have to pay the whole fare, including ordinary (josha-ken) and limited express charge, as if you didn't have the pass. The ordinary Japan Rail pass covers traveling using ordinary class only, not valid for green class. That's right. You can't just pay the difference. The green Japan Rail pass covers travelling using both green class and ordinary class. For more in regarding the validity of the Japan Rail Pass, see the page below. http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en03.html Is it valid for the similar loop train in Osaka? Yes. The JR Osaka Loop Line belongs to JR West, all use of JR lines is covered by the Japan Rail Pass. There's a separate ticket gate for non-Shinkansen lines. Don't put the pass through the machine, but present it at a manned gate. Alec |
