One remark on the sidelines. Using a Maestro debit card in
Kenya, I could withdraw up to KSh40,000 at a time (from all Barclays ATMs), which is currently roughly ¤400, but the menu offered only amounts up to 20,000. I had to choose "other amount" and key in 40000. Remember this, it may apply elsewhere as well. Hans-Georg -- No mail, please. |

That depends on the bank. On one of my accounts there is a US$4 charge for each foreign transaction. It pays to make your transactions few and large. Depending on your bank at home there may be a "service" charge ... I am talking about the amount, the max. amount in ZAR. From my jouneys to Austria or Italy I know that there is a max. amount each time you draw cash. Does anybody know? Thanks, Andreas |

Hi Andreas,
At the bigger banks in and around major cities (Jo'Burg, Cape Town) you will be able to get your hands on 2000 ZAR at a time. At least 1000 ZAR is possible. |
