Madras or Mumbay ?
Dear all,
I live in Italy and due to job reasons, I only have 5-6 days for a visit in Madras or Mumbay (these two because flight are relativeky cheap). September or october. Do you think it can be worth going and it is enjoyable enough to visit one of those and its surroundings ? Which is the best one, given that I like nature and art and culture but also like to "live" modern cities (i.e. strolling along shopping malls, libraries, etc. :-) ? Thanks a lot |

Last time I was in Mumbai (1997) it was a very messy place - dirty, crowded and polluted. It's possible that the town is nicer now though, after all there has been a substantial economic development since then. -- Alfred Molon http://www.molon.de - Photos of Asia, Africa and Europe |

Madras or Mumbay ?
Chennai offer more culture & countryside but is less modern than Mumbai. 5-6
days will not be enough. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia offers you 3 major cultures in one (Southern Indian, Chinese and native Malay), countryside & modern living within a couple of hours. Mountain and the sea. Not as cheap as India but great nightlife & decent public transport. Cheap palatable, even delicious local food, as well. English-speaking, of course. Little Italian, unfortunately. "Stefano" wrote in message oups.com... But go to Delhi instead if you can - it has a lot more to see. |
