Buffet on QM2
Is anyone that has sailed on the QM2 in the last couple of months able to
tell me whether or not the buffet uses servers or are passengers allowed to serve themselves? Thanks, Patty |

Karen,
Which areas are self-serve and which use servers? Thanks, Patty "Karen" wrote in message ... Patty, there are both servers and self serve areas in the Kings Court (buffet), which includes the Chef's Galley, the Carvery, Lotus and La Piazza. Any other questions you may have, please just ask. It seems I'm in the mood to talk about the QM2 today ;-) Karen, who was last on this ship in May. __ /7__/7__/7__ \::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.cupcaked.com/reviews ® (...and leave off the "pastry" to e-mail) |

If you don't smoke, make sure that your neighbor does not. We were on the QM2 Jan12 2004 for a couple of weeks and the old guy next door lit up in the mornings, we left the door open during the night, and if the wind was blowing right, the aroma came right in... Otherwise, the ship had a multitude of cigar brands for sale and the environment was nice. Allowed in cabin? In bars? On deck? Not at all? (shudder) and, 2: How many bars are there on the ship and what licensing hours do they have? Thank God I checked back on the spelling he I found I'd put 'bras' for bars ..... That's okay. I would have told you about bras on board ;-) Oh, well, at my age, finding a quiet bar is of more interest than finding ladies' underwear! Anyway, we don't smoke cigarettes, so we never really concerned ourselves with smoking in our cabins and if it was permitted or not. from Ed's f/up above, it seems his neighbor got away with it. My DH smokes cigars occasionally, but I usually just send him out on the balcony with those. In the bars and lounges, smoking is permitted, but smokers are usually limited to one side of the room or at the bar. That's fair enough. There are a multitude of bars, some connected to pools and restaurants on board and others stand-alone, such as (my favorites) the Chart Room and the Commodore Club, both great for sail-away times and sunsets before dinner. The bars are open to about 12:30 - 1 AM. There's also the Veuve Clicquot Champagne bar adjacent to the Chart Room, which is quite nice, too. The Winter Garden is open until 10 PM, but I personally think there are other nicer places to drink on board. There's also Sir Samuel's Wine Bar across from the Chart Room. That is operational until midnight. The pool bars are open to about 5 or 6 PM. There's not much traffic there during fall, spring and almost-winter crossings, though. The G32 nightclub is great and is open until everybody goes back to their cabins and to sleep. So is the Golden Lion Pub. The casino bar is also open until everybody clears out. I think I'm missing a few places to drink, but that should be enough to keep you busy for now ;-) Sounds great. I'll do my damnedest to try them all in five days, and give you my impressions when back in Texas again. ..
