If I had not caught this, would I have been allowed on our flightto our cruise?
Would this have been a problem if I had not caught it and had
Continental correct it? They had me listed as Jeffery instead of Jeffrey, so my name on the ticket and passport would have been different. |

FWIW, minor spelling mistakes are seldom used to keep someone from a flight, especially a first name. Most of the time, the airline can and will make the correction when you check in. However....... if they want to get technical, they can use this as an excuse to keep you from a flight but I don't know of anyone who has had this happen. I am sure there is someone out there, though..... -- George Leppla http://www.CruiseMaster.com Cruise Specials Weblog http://cruisemaster.typepad.com/my_weblog/ |

Jeff, I have a similar problem...too many computer programs do not accept the apostrophe in my last name and most of them just put it together as OBoyle or Oboyle.(which my husband hates because he is so proud of his Irish heritage)... When I have brought it to the cruiseline's attention, I have been told they are not able to enter the apostrophe...But I have never had any problems when boarding a ship or plane even though our passports read O'Boyle. I doubt that you would have had any trouble, but you never know and I'm glad that you were able to correct it. --Jean |

I don't think it would have given you any problems.
My last name ends on "sen" and I have been flying several times with "son" on the ticked and never had problems. -- Mike www.uCruiser.com "Jeff Gersten" wrote in message ... It might have been interesting to see if our travel insurance would pay
a claim based on incorrect spelling. Though, I'm glad I did not have to find out. I had even given the airline middle initials for my wife and myself so the names would be exactly the same. The insurance company would have asked for an explanation for the misspelling but would honor any valid claim. Unfortunately, the trip cancellation/interruption benefits are "named peril" coverages and having a missed a flight due to a name misspelling isn't a "named peril" on any of the policies I've ever seen. The only exception to this is the "cancel for any reason" option that is available on a few policies however, all of the "cancel for any reason" options require that you cancel at least 48 hours or more prior to departure. |
