tax question
On the way out of OAK yesterday, I paid tax on a newspaper at a
newsstand. I thought that tax was included on newspapers. Can anyone fill me in on the correct policy? |

The newstand will charge tax on any purchase...........the only time
you don't pay tax on newspaper is when you buy them from the newspaper vending machine. --- http://www.moviesitearchive.com/travel On Nov 29, 11:55*am, AE Todd wrote: On the way out of OAK yesterday, I paid tax on a newspaper at a newsstand. *I thought that tax was included on newspapers. *Can anyone fill me in on the correct policy? |

The paper has been discounted by the amount of the sales tax, then the tax has been added back on. Some stores sell newspapers for well under the MSRP (i.e. Walgreen's) but they do charge tax. |
