Standby Flights
I haven't seen any recent discussion on this, so I'd like to ask you
if they are COMPLETELY gone (except for buying a full price ticket and trying for an earlier flight) or are there still airlines doing this? Thanks |

Thanks There is probably one genuine standby fare somewhere in the world. However, in general, airlines have moved to the "buy in advance to get the cheapest(!) fare" model. |

Westjet doesn't do true standby, but I've bought deeply discounted tickets 12-36 hours in advance of the flight and paid their lowest rates for the flight (typically in the $49 range) As far as I know, this is about as close as you can get. |

Standby Flights
AirTran has standby for young adults in the 18-22 age range.
They can buy a ticket ( as much as 99 cost to coast one way) and travel standby for that flight If there is no seat available, they can stand by for another flight anytime. http://www.airtranu.com/airtran_u.aspx |

Thanks In most cases, you don't have to buy a full price ticket to standby for an earlier flight. |

Standby Flights
The only time I have seen standby is when a flight is overbooked and
they create a list for passengers without confirmed seats........I'm sure most airlines still have standby on some of their routes. --- http://www.moviesitearchive.com/travel On Aug 9, 2:45*pm, Wolkenlaufer wrote: I haven't seen any recent discussion on this, so I'd like to ask you if they are COMPLETELY gone (except for buying a full price ticket and trying for an earlier flight) or are there still airlines doing this?
