Default Hotel in Nice, france

dear all -
i am looking for a
nice hotel in Nice, france.
it should have a special note,
be it stylish and well-designed, or
have the view across the bay, or
be it picturesque in the old town etc.
any pointers are greatly appreciated.
(no a priori limits on costs.)
thanks very much-
j.

Good choice Lana ! I recall having dinner in the Chantecler restaurant
and watching, from time to time, the elderly grande dame at the next
table, entertaining her beloved poodle. The waiter obviously knew that
the animal had discerning taste because he served it first with a fine
steak tartare.

rebonjour -
thanks very much already. very enlightening!
but, errrm, did i say 'no a priori limits?
on costs'? ;-)
the high season prices are a tiny little
bit over budget then... how about around a max
of 200EUR? i presumably wasn't fully aware that
it's the cote d'azur...
thanks so much once more -

We stayed last fall at the Boscolo Park Hotel, which is mid-range. Front
rooms have french doors and balconies which look out over the Parc Albert
1re to the Promenade des Anglais and the bay (though the view of the water
is restricted). Prices are medium high, but the rooms can be very nice.
However, you should view your room before accepting it, as some, especially
at the far end of the halls from the elevator, suffer from badly sagging
floors. Some rooms are defenitely larger and nicer than others. The hotel
is well situated however, being only about a 10 minute walk from the market
at the Cours Saleya and the old town, 1 minute from the Promenade des
Anglais and next to the pedestrian shopping area. Their is an underground
car park right in front. Their sister hotel, the Boscolo Hotel Plaza, is on
the avenue Verdun, facing Espace Masséna and Square Général Leclerc, with
the old town on the other side. It doesn't have a sea view, but is at least
a star better than the Park.
