Default recommendations for a two week trip to europe

i'll be traveling around europe for two weeks on the eurail pass
soon. i'd like to see as much of europe as possible during that
time, so i plan on spending one day in each city i visit (with the
exception of london, where i'll spend two days).

here's a tentative route i mapped out:

i'm from the US, so i don't have much of a concept of how long it will
take to travel that distance in europe. (i'm guessing my route is a
little overly ambitious.) how many cities do you think i'll have time
to see along that route? what do you think is an optimum distance to
travel in two weeks?

Assuming that the route in question is the pink line I can only
speculate that you are completely bonkers. When do you plan to get off
of the the train? and neither Rome nor Paris fine because they deserve
more than that. but honestly are you trying to see how many miles you
can run up but then again you are using a map that says it comes
Amsterdam so maybe you are just pulling out collective leg with a little
joke.

Even enlarged, I can only guess at your stops, although it seems
that you're skipping Paris. A better idea would be to simply list
them for us. But I agree with jc. You are nuts or a troll. BTW,
if it matters, my family did about this route in 1970... in 5 weeks.

No doubt. Think of European countries like medium-to-large-sized American
states. Its like saying "I'll do Missouri on Monday, Illinois on Tuesday,
Kentucky on Wednesday...", etc.

thanks for the replies.

here's a revised route:
http://zwei.homelinux.net/~jason/eur...il-plan-v5.png

is that more reasonable? i'd like to spend at least a day in
frankfurt, amsterdam, london, edinburgh, and paris. if time allows,
i'll also visit either bern or basel. otherwise, i'll just cut across
to frankfurt.

any idea how long it takes to get from london to edinburgh?

I haven't looked at your route, but if you're planning on seeing
13 cities in 14 days, a plan like this will guarantee that you
will see as *little* of Europe as possible. What you will mostly
see is the inside of trains and hotel rooms.

Assuming that you are interested in major cities like London,
Rome, and Paris, I wouldn't try to visit more than three in two
weeks time--four tops. You could profitably spend the entire two
weeks, or more, in just one of these cities.

This is much more reasonable. Just a couple of ideas: Instead
of crossing at the Hook of Holland, consider going to Brussels
and taking the Eurostar to London. Also, from Bern, I'd head
for Munich, which is more interesting than Frankfurt and from
there, you could do an side trips to Regensburg and Salzburg.
