Default New Year's eve in New York City

Im planning on seeing in the New Year in Times Square in New York, are
flights and hotels cheaper or more expensive over this period?.

Can anybody give me any tips on places to saty which is close to Times
Square which does not cost an absolute fortune, also what happens in
NY on new years eve after it hits midnight, does evrybody stay around
for a while?.

Everything triples in the way of hotels for New Year's Eve Weekend. As
for inexpensive places to stay near Times Square....you got me on that
one. Maybe a homeless shelter?

What happens after the ball drops. Everybody heads for someplace warm
to either party some more or hit the hey.

What is Chicago like in January? Colder than a witch's tit! And windy too!
