Hei !
Vi skal i juletider til Østen. Er det noen som har reist på MEKONG og har
gode tips?
Kan man ordne visa til Laos på grensen Thailand/Laos ?

My first advice is - do NOT take those fast boats! The slow boat is your
choice.

Visa can be arranged on the border. The cost is around 20$ US.

Almost everybody take the Mekong-trip from north Thailand downriver to
Luang Prapang. This is the Lonely Planet-choice, thus boats tend to be
full of backpackers.

If you are clever, take a pick up-toyota ride (great fun!) from
Vientiane bus station to Vang Vieng - very much worth visiting - and
from there by bus to Luang Prapang. Continue back to Thailand upriver by
slow boat.

I didn't understand the first question.

You get all visas you need very fast and cheap in Bangkok (best) or
Chiang Mai. For Thailand you don't need a visum.

Also in Phnom Penh and Vientiane you get visas for the neighbouring
countries.

Usually most travel agencies do this for you (faster as if you were
going by yourself).

I didn't get the first question.

Have a save trip.

Sverre is asking something like: "We're going Eastbound in Dec. Somebody
travelled the Mekong-river? Any good advice? Can one get visa for Laos
at the border.

Hi

I think getting visa for Laos at the border depends on which border point you
are at.. You would probably get it at the intl. airport and friendship bridge
crossing point. However, the border up north I do not know

Cheers
