Japan Sucked, but not the people.
"gknnth" wrote in message oups.com... (Why should you eh? Those gooks should speak amErikAn eNgLliSh right?) Why should they? They speak it everywhere else in Asia. thus you were unequivocally, brain dead clueless and didn't know that you were surrounded by thousands of advertisements telling you where to go, what to buy and what to pay. So shopping malls in Hong Kong have signs in English telling people what to do, but Japanese scream about "imperialism" and refuse to have them. It's interesting. I've been in Japan for 25 years I do speak, read, and write Japanese and I have no, zero, zip problems finding precisely what I need in Akihabara and/or any other part of Tokyo. If you've been in Japan for 25 years, how do you know what's available outside of Japan, which isn't available in Japan? Japan doesn't need you and has been doing just fine without you for more than a 1000 years of its civilization. Really? They seemed to need resources and conquered other countries recently. But failing that, they depend on American capitalism to survive... unless an American wants to buy something, then it's "imperialism" so they do not deserve to buy anything. |

Apud skeptic (fj.life.in-japan) hoc legimus:

I've been in and out of Japan about 10 times in the last 25 years, racking up a total of over 12 months there, and apart from the odd youth in a black uniform, I've never heard anyone screaming about "imperialism". What's more, I see a lot of signs in English (often hilariously broken) telling people what to do. -- Jim Breen http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/ Clayton School of Information Technology, Monash University, VIC 3800, Australia $B%8%`!&%V%j!%s(B@$B%b%J%7%eBg3X(B |

What a remarkable assertion! thus you were unequivocally, brain dead clueless and didn't know that you were surrounded by thousands of advertisements telling you where to go, what to buy and what to pay. So shopping malls in Hong Kong have signs in English telling people what to do, but Japanese scream about "imperialism" and refuse to have them. It's interesting. Actually, the Japanese tend to become quite silent when the subject of imperialism comes up. Seems to make them feel uncomfortable for some reason. Maybe he makes use of the Internet to glean information from informative fellows such as yourself. Um, these days a majority of Japan's exports go to markets outside the United States. It's a global economy, and America is just one (big) market among many. -- __________________________________________________ _____________ Scott Reynolds |

There are plenty of white losers in Japan who serve as apologists. You hear
them defending Japanese backwardness and inaccessibility, that foreigners in Japan "deserve" to be treated poorly -- as opposed to being proud of Japan's progressivism. |

They should be more proud of Japan's progressivism! But what were those examples of Japan's progressivism again? I didn't see any in your earlier post. -- __________________________________________________ _____________ Scott Reynolds |

I've been living in Japan for 13 years, and I've never hear anything of the kind. Either you're hanging around in the wrong kind of company - losers, did you say? Well, that figures - or you just made it up. John http://rarebooksinjapan.org |

Yeah, down to the Australian English teachers who get drunk every night in Harajuku, or the Eastern European whores in Shinjuku? Unless you're one of them, anyway. |
