Default Boston to London

I have a few questions that I was hoping some people could help answer. I
am planning a trip to London leaving Boston Feb. 14th at night (landing the
next morning in London) and heading back Feb. 21, both dates are Saturdays.
Right now the best prices I can find are for around $400. My first question
is, do you think these prices will drop at some point? My second question
is, how would you rate American Airlines, British Airways, and Northwest
Airlines. Those are the three airlines that have the cheapest deals. I
also would like to know if it is best to purchase my tickets directly from
the airline or should I purchase them through a travel website? Thank you.

Depends how desperate the airlines are. Barring another disaster, I'd
be surprised if the prices dropped much. The chances of someone
having a fare sale between now and then is pretty good, but I wouldn't
count on one for that exact week, particularly since that's school
vacation in much of the US.

If you have a little date flexibilty and can go on Monday rather than
Saturday, the price is more like $325.

how would you rate American Airlines, British Airways, and Northwest
Airlines.

They're all big airlines, they'll all get you there. AA might still
have their extra legroom seats, although they're busily taking them out.

I also would like to know if it is best to purchase my tickets

website?

For a simple trip like this, it doesn't matter.

Fares being relatively equal, I would chose AA over the others. Even though
BOS-LON is a relatively short flight, AA's extra coach room does make a
difference.

Actually, they don't "take out" the extra legrooms seats, they just add
more seats But, this wouldn't be an issue on flying BOS-LHR.

Are you sure Northwest do BOS-LON ? (You might find there is a plane change
involved) (which would also give you more FF miles)

BA have poor food service, but free alcohol.
AA have better legroom, and power in some coach seats.

If there is no difference in fares, I would book directly with the airline -
why involve a middleman ?

Do you collect miles ? - If so which schemes ? - that can make a difference
to the total value of what you get. BA only give 25% miles on the cheaper
tickets.

Have you checked CO, VS (codeshares), Gulf - codeshare I think with AA,

BA are mean with the hand-luggage allowance.

I would say BA is the best. AA charge for drinks in economy and their seats
are very uncomfortable. I've found this great new website
www.traveljungle.co.uk. It goes through all the websites, travelselect
ebookers etc, and gets the best price from them all. Best buy so far £227
($340) on Travelocity
BA have started a one day seat sale.

they haven't got Boston this week. However, it's going on for a few weeks
and it could be worth checking back every week to see if Boston comes up. As
your flight in the off peak period then you could comfortably wait until
next year to book it.

Just don;t buy a consolidator fare on AA such as Q class that doesn;t
earn any mils.

Have you flown both?
I find no difference in comfort except for the extra legroom from AA.
How many drinks do you need to get from BOS to LHR?

They charge for alcoholic drinks, not non alcoholic drinks.
