Hi folks! I will be leaving for Bangalore on Monday. I have my anti-malaria tablets, my mosquito-off, my stomach-tablets. What else should I take? I plan og getting one or two Salwar Khamees on the first day there, as I understand that gives you a better chance of walking around undisturbed. Hubby will be in meetings for 3 days, and then we have 3 days off - though on Sunday, our flight goes very late night, so we will spend that day close to the hotell or even just in it relaxing and packing. We think we will rent a car with driver and do a day-trip to Mysore. Other than that, we don't have any special plans at the moment - but are open to suggestions. I will have 3 days mostly on my own in Bangalore. I plan on staying IN the city. I like pottery and would love to see some being made. Have read barely about a specialist pottery village near Bangalore, and would love to go see that, if possible. I also like people-watching - if anyone has suggestions for a good cafe where I can have a coffee or tea and people-watch for a couple of hours - bring it on! Hubby is an avid photographer, so if there are any good places near Bangalore to go take wonderful pictures - of the landscapes or of the people and the life - let me know, please! Okay - that should about cover my questions. Oh, yes, we have updated all our vaccines now, so that should be OK. Looking forward to reading from you! Marianne Hi Marienne, You can relax. Malaria is not going to get to you. Bangalore is trurning out to be neat metropol. Except for the maddning traffic, everything else is fine. Salwar is very comfortable- no doubt, u can busy it bangalore as you get choose from a fantastic range. cabs are available in plenty with quality chauffres, as you hotel to oragnise for one and give your specifications as to what kind of driver you'd require, they'll take care of the rest. Bangalore dosent have a pottery town, hoever there is a an area off the cantonment area before the ITC factory, were you'll find a potters community. As for the sight seeing in bangalore, places of interest include the Lal bagh, The museums, the ulsoor lake and the nandi hills. If you are planning to go to mysore , take a stop at ranganthittu( bird sanctuary) which falls on the way and srirangapattanam. If you have time go via Hassan, where some interesting temples are located in Belur, halebeedu and sravanabelagola. It's 3.5 hrs to mysore and 4 hrs to Hassan. You said you like watching people, theres an open air cafe of barista's in front of barton center, you could enjoy the variety of coffee and watch the people of all age group- catch the diagonally opposite corner to the left as you enter, you can get the best view of the people passing by the pavement and of those coming to the coffe shop. Just to remind you, go easy on your nerves vis-a-vis malaria, you are going to be just fine.Only precaution i'd suggest is to go easy on the spicy food, your stomach may not be able to take it. Don't forget to write in about your experience, after your visit. so long shailesh www.mystikalindia.com |
