Default Baggage Compartment Attributes

It's my understanding that the baggage compartment on modern
airliiners is both pressurized and temperature-controlled. Is that
correct? If so, a container that has water or something water-based
should not be in danger of exploding from freezing, correct? Thanks.

Correct. If that weren't correct, you would see a train of dripping,
oozing bags at the baggage claim after every flight.

R's,
John
