Yes, except in my analogy I'm equating the concert pianist with someone
who can actually fly a plane.

I dont really follow the above.
You can learn basic piano fingering on an electronic instrument, you can*
familiarise yourself with a lot of navigation on MSFS.

And you won't become either a classical pianist or pilot by only using
electronic keyboards or MSFS.



Unless, of course, you are a supremely clever being such as Mixi.

Probably, but you can fly younger than you can drive- or at least that
used to be the case. I've not done either for a long time...

so was that as a certified pilot, or as a trainee with another pilot?

What do you think? I've mentioned this before.

By the time I learned to drive, I hadn't had those flying lessons for
years!

the point I was making about flying lessons is they can be an end in
themselves, lots of people do that with no intention of using a plane.
Driving lessons are a practical means to an end. Hey! How did you get to
the airfield??????

so theres no such thing as aptitude, flair and creativity!!! Are you saying
these prodigies who master the violin or maths at improbable ages are doing
it just be work rate? I find that very surprising. In photography I see
people who havent a clue and those who have. Those with a clue will always
be better on equal effort. Same for running. Same for being a pilot no
doubt. People with good eye hand co ordination are always better at sports.
Intelligence shows through in accountancy, however hard you work.

Yes- and it can all be worked on, improved upon, and unlocked in the
right envirnoment for many people who otherwise would considfer
themselves not to have those skills.

Not all concert violinists (or pianists for that matter) were child
prodigies, and the ones that were generally came from backgrounds where
they were encouraged to play the instrument at a very early age. And
work on it!
