I would ask your Guide @ Ngorongoro to ask around about black
rhino. They are there, and this is one of the few places left where
you might get close enough for a good sighting. With 2 days in the
crater (unusual, but you probably know that) you have twice
the chances.

About downt o 10C or colder? Just debating exactlyhow much to bring as
it will be the only cool place?

It can be very damp/chilly mornings and evenings at the crater.
The lodge is about 8000' elevation. You may be in the clouds.
But early AM on the Serengeti will also be chilly. Remember that
the roof is open. Layer. Jacket or sweater, then take it off later.

Default Serengeti rains/wildebeest migration

I'm watching with great interest this forum where I received very
valuable advise for preparing my trip. Now this thread comes perfectly
timely. Thanks to all for the useful addresses/info so far.

I'm arriving to Arusha in 3 weeks time and have planned to take time
in the different places:
* 2 nights in Lake Manyara
* 3 nights in Ngorongoro (We'll watch for the black rhino in
Ngorongoro - Thanks, Dave)
* 6 nights in different parts of Serengeti: some days in the center
and then head for 2 days to the western corridor (the last weekend of
May)

It seems a bit 'early' (though it depends on how the rains are
doing!!) but I'm still confident I'll have the possibility to catch
the migration wherever it is (although I keep my fingers crossed) and
see much more there!! Nature is difficult to predict which makes
planning just a gamble!! Would anyone have first-hand info on how the
rains are evolving this year? Are they later than in the past years?

Thanks!

Thanks. We'll try to see them! Why is 2 whole days unusual? Most
people just want to move on?

Thanks. We'll layer. I think the temp is similar to where we are in a
way (Vancouver, Canada)
