Default Caitlins Accommodation?

Hi all,

My turn to ask the questions instead of answering them. I'm planning a week
long sprint from Chch to Invercagill & back the week before Christmas and
I've never done the Caitlins. I have the "Southern Scenic Route" Brochure
but need some personal rec for somewhere to break the journey between
Invercagill & Dunedin. Looking for a backpackers or cabin as I may not
bother with the tent this trip.

Many thanks,

Vicki

It is over a couple of years since I was there (with a group).
We enjoyed our stay at Surat Bay Lodge. It is right on the beach,
5km south of Owaka, at the mouth of the Catlins Estuary.

Ugh...there's a FANTASTIC little hostel there somewhere, but I no longer
have my NZ Lonely Planet to look up the name for you! If you have one handy
and want to email me names of places in the area, I know I'll recognize it.
It's actually on the level of a B&B, they provide such great service!
