8 Chinese Warships Close Hong Kong Visit
"AP / MIN LEE, Associated Press Writer" wrote in message ... HONG KONG (AP) -- Eight Chinese warships eased through Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor Wednesday to conclude a five-day visit -- Beijing's biggest show of force since it took over the former British colony in 1997. The vessels moved slowly in single file as sailors lining their decks waved goodbye. Tourists hurried to take pictures from the shore................... i got this article from another NG, what interest me most is when it said tourist hurried to take pictures.......... i thought the chinese goverment hated or forbidden of none-chinese people to take pictures of their army. |

Military forces all around the world are very sensitive in revealing information about their strength to outsider. Just try to enter a military base and then take some snapshots without permission, you will be lucky if you're not shot on site first and then asked questions later. On a related note, taking railroad pictures in the U.S.A. is now a little bit harder, since that there's a chance that the authority will approach you and treat you like a suspect. Welcome to the New World Order. As for the 'new' China. Well... 'They' are (re)conquering China, after Russia, now it's China. Of course, 'they' are also currently reforming the U.S.A. to better suits 'their' needs more. Again, welcome to New World Order. |

8 Chinese Warships Close Hong Kong Visit
i remember articles from years ago where any tourist taking a single snap of
a guard or soldier would get the film ripped out and possibly slung in the cells. I mean yeah of course everyone takes pictures of the Queens guards while in sentry duty, try to make then talk an all that....... but the PLA were very strict about photo's even if the soldier was just walking down a road. When I was in Dali 18 months ago I wandered a bit too far around a big PLA sculture near the entrance to their base (which is right off a main drag in the south part of town) and some army dude yelled (in perfect English) to go away or they would call the police. Not very friendly fellows. ;-) None of the Chinese were going around there, they just seemed to "know" not to approach too closely. Best regards, Spehro Pefhany -- "it's the network..."
