Default Any suggestions for xmas hols?

Hi,

My wife and I emigrated to Brisbane recently. We have been here 4 months
and loving it.

We are really looking forward to Xmas, as this will be the first time
that we'll have sufficient time (2 weeks) off work to do some exploring.

The question is......what do we do!!!!

I am currently toying with two options, but I am very open to any
suggestions.

1) Go south, stay a week or so in Sydney. I've been before years ago but
my wife has not been more than an hour from Brisbane. I was thinking
of showing her the docks, beaches etc... and celebrating new years
eve watching the fireworks.

2) Go north, perhaps to see the reef. Isn't it going to be really humid
and rainy at that time of year though? Not sure where to go
exactly....long way to treck to Cairns.

Its really important that we don't waste these two weeks (our marriage
depends on it!!!!!!)

Anybody got any suggestions?

thanks in advance!

Jay

I'd go south, stopping over in Nambucca Heads for a couple of days. Blue
Dolpin motel has great views... And then defnitely do Sydney(book hotel for
NYE right about NOW!), maybe travelling a bit inland on the way back to
Brisbane... or checking out Port Stephens.

Nothing really wrong about going north, the Whitsundays are always nice :-)
But it's a place you can go anytime and there's really no reason to do that
over the X-mas hols.

You really don't want to be in North Queensland in December, unless
you are fond of lots of heat and humidity. It isn't always bad at
Christmas, but it's often opressive. Go south, as others have
suggested.

An entire childhood of living in that area convinced me that I don't
want to go to Qld between October and April, ever again :-)

thanks for your help!

Good advice about booking early for NYE. Initially had great trouble,
but now sorted.

best regards,
Jason
