Use public transport (and/or taxis) for around city stuff.

Rent for occasional long trips.

Buying will not be economic for such a short period of time.

If you are going to move around Brisbane city AND suburbs a lot during any
day,
Buy day tripper tickets that go all day
OR off peak day tripper that goes from 0930 to 1530 (3.30pm) and 1900 (7pm)
to 0100 (1 am) next morning
They are able to be used on buses and ferries (Citycat).

There are also FREE buses that get around the city area Red
see

See also for other details etc

Brisbane city is a very easy walk around city also.

see
www.Hertz.com.au
or google for hire or rent car prices from Brisbane, there are lots of them
in city area locations, but I would take other persons advise and only use
for
say going up Sunshine coast, Hinterland or Gold Coast ,
which are out a fair way and not overly conducive to public transport
situation.

John H

The price of cars in Oz, range from free - for one without wheels, to one
million bucks for the latest Rolls Royce.

If you're looking for something in between (pre-owned) go to
http://www.autotrader.com.au/browse-auto/Automotive/

Also, Brisbane is a safe place to swim in the ocean as there are no sharks.
They all migrated to the land and became used car salesmen. So be carefull
if you buy from a dealer.

Regards

Kerry

I used to rent cheap rental cars from Places at Northgate which is 10 Kms
from BNE Airport.
The Insurance got so expensive, that I ve given up hiring. They drive like
maniacs up there in Brisbane.
A spokesman from East Coast Car Rentals complained about cstmrs averaging 5
accidents per day
for their fleet of 700 cars. If the Rental companies obsorbed the Insurance
costs they might get more cstmrs.

If you hire a Hyundai Getz, you might average $70.00 per day inc Petrol,
INSurance, Taxes, Gst, etc.
