Newsreaders typically download all the headers, so you can filter on sender or subject, but the message body isn't downloaded. Downloading all the messages would be very bandwidth intensive. This issue has been brought up many times, misterfact is by no means the first sender that people want to block completely; there are far worse people hanging out on usenet than him. He's actually kind of amusing. I can't figure out if he's a very good troll, or is really as dumb as his posts make him appear. I was leaning toward the latter, until I saw the one about hooking up your battery powered devices in your house to car batteries; that one convinced me that we're dealing with a troll, because someone who thinks you should splice AC power plugs onto smoke detectors would have recommended that you use AC adapters to avoid using small batteries.
