Living in Hawaii vs. Visiting Hawaii
I would like to hear from people who lived in Hawaii after growing up
on the mainland. I think I would go crazy living in Hawaii because of the heat. I love visiting there but after 5 days I start going nuts. Have people liked living there a lot less than they expected? What problems are there compared with the mainland? |

I hope this isn't a rude question, but why have you started several threads recently and then never revisited them to thank the people replying for their answers/suggestions? Marsha/Ohio Well picked up Marsha. A troll, but at least he's a reasonably subtle and non-aggressive one. Probably a little competition going on to see who gets the highest number of answers to each post. Cheers, Alan, Australia |

Sometimes it's good to start a discussion to get folks debating and such, but it's only proper to add your own thoughts as well. Marsha/Ohio |

I was born in Hong Kong, raised in Hawaii (Oahu) from 1.5yrs till 18
(mom is still there), and now living in San Jose, CA. I know it's the reverse, but do I count? IMHO, I think it depends on the person's attitude and ability to become acclimated to an area. People will complain about the dry heat, wet heat, dry cold, or wet cold, but for the most part are drawn to a particular region because they grew up there, the lower living costs, a job, or they just want to begin a new life. There are many more reasons, but the list is too long. For me, I never thought I could ever leave Hawaii, but then some would never leave the dry heat of Phoenix or the shoveling of snow in Wisconsin. Going back to the question. Can I go back to Hawaii after living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 15+ years. Absolutely! I would whine about losing the choice of driving to my vacation destinations, but I'm a type of person that makes the best of wherever I live or travel to. Some people are not so fortunate. |

It regurarly hits 120 degrees in Southern California, Arizona and Nevada and rarely hits 90 degrees in Hawaii?
