Are we getting personal, Thomas? Your ancestor's behaviour in Europe
in 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 wasn't the most pleastant either but you
don't see ME mentioning that here in the original debate, now do you?

First of all if you bring these arguments into a thread about travelling
in Asia, you really have a problem.

Second, you need to refresh your history. Germany didn't start WW I
(1914-18).

What was wrong with their behaviour then ?

There you go, my point exactly. Congratulations. You should be proud.

I guess few people are aware on your "point". Germans are known about
their good behaviour.

Huh? Seriously now, really? Where I live they certainly aren't. Mind
you, they're not hated or something (they make damn fine cars and
tasty sausages) but people sure are aware of the past around here.

Where do you live then ? In a country of *******s?

I live in Finland.

In Finland Germans are definitely considered good behaving folks. No doubt.

20 Euro / day in average including
- accommodation (Hotel / Bungalow 600...1000 Baht / night, double room;
Bangkok, Ko Samet, Ko Kradan, Krabi)
- food + drink (incl. 2 big beers / day, almost all the time in
restaurants)
- traveling around by bus (distances 50km), boat (small distances only to
get to the islands), train (night-sleeper, BKK - South and back), taxi
(BKK)
- Internet almost every day, sometimes expensive in hotels rather than in
small internet cafes on the street

Well, you need a bit more than 20 Euro/day:

Accomodation: 600 to 1000 Baht is 12 to 20 euro. Let's assume an average
of 16 Euro/ day for accomodation (which gets you a very nice room,
usually 500 Baht are enough).
Food: about 100 Baht for a decent meal in a Thai restaurant, two and a
half times/day = 250 Baht which equal 5 Euro
Travelling: assume another 100-200 Baht daily average (or less if you
travel less). That's 3 Euro/day.
Extras (these make the holiday more enjoyable): assume an average of 200
Baht/day - 4 Euro.
You'd then end up with 28 Euro/day, which correspond to US $34.

Note that a couple of years ago you could have lived in a room in Krabi
for 100 Baht/night and you might have been able to survive on another
100-150 Baht for the food. That's 4 to 5 Euro per day - if you do
nothing, just eat very simple stuff and sleep in a very basic room with
no A/C.

He is posting from Belgium. The information he gave you is as correct
as the information he gives about travel costs.

Wow, that's German efficiency for you. You actually read the headers.

I did so too and read Markku's headers, hence my sarcastic reply. I
didn't think you'd actually take it seriously, but then again Germans
aren't known for their sense of humour are they.

It's time to ignore this kid.

Well, who started this argument? All I did was give the group my
opinion about the 20$ and all I got was ridicule from you.

Sure, ignore me and by all means go back to Thailand. I've seen you
lot in Pattaya and it makes me ashamed to be a Westerner in Thailand.
