Hi,

Have gone to Florida a few times now so I'm looking for different things a family can do outside of the parks.

Last year we did the springs such as Waikivia and enjoyed them a great deal.

Have you done the Florida Keys? Does your family enjoy snorkeling? You
might want to visit Key Largo and go snorkeling in John Pennekamp Coral
Reef Park. 80% of the attraction is under the sea. It's really quite
beautiful.

How about renting a house boat and cruising the Florida Bay and Gulf.
You can rent them with or without crew. With crew you have a
combination captain, nature guide, fishing guide and cook.

What about the west coast? Have you done Sanibel and Captiva islands?
They are in the Gulf and a shell collector's dream come true. There are
other activities as well.

I am assuming by parks you meant the theme parks in Orlando and Tampa.

The Keys, Miami, the Kennedy Space Center, Everglades tours. There are a
lot of options. Just google for "Florida tourism" and I am sure you'll
find lots of good information.

rent a condo on the beach at Indian rocks beach and chill out there for
a week (near st petersburg).

take a ferry from honeymoon island to caladesi island state park and
take a hike or visit the nice beach there (near clearwater beach).

Alot of folks would suggest the beaches next. St.
Petersburg/Clearwater would be good.
Naples is also popular. You could do Miami but I don't tend to think
of that as attractive
to the whole family.

Beyond that you also have the Keys, Key West, Marathon, Key Largo,
Bahia Honda,
all are popular. There is also the East Central Coast which basically
is from about
Cocoa Beach to St. Augustine. It includes Daytona and the Kennedy
Space center.
Everything is within an hour or so of each other although I'd probably
pick to stay in
and around Cocoa. And it leaves you about an hour from the whole
Disney/Universal/
Sea World area in case you just can't avoid the itch.

Daytona is the pits(unless you are from W Va, or Tennesee! Those rednecks
love the smelly hotel rooms and dining at Dennys!
