They can be listened in to. Oh, I thought you meant something more sinister. OK- well that might put some people off, but if people want to listen to my boring conversations, that's their problem! Still, might make me think twice before giving out a credit card detail.... They say it's a mobile number, and direct you to call the 0871 number instead. Oh well, worth a try... Forgot to mention that Skype charges 10.5 euro cents a minute to Liechtenstein mobiles (they recognise my riiing number as such) and the sound quality is good IME. I LOVE SKYPE!!!! Dutch CA warns that it's not always cheaper, than a normal phone call to some destinations. It's cheaper for all calls I've made so far. Even to call local numbers it's cheaper than the regular phone. And when I call Skype to Skype, it's free! |

Dutch CA warns that it's not always cheaper, than a normal phone call to some destinations. Where SKYPE really comes into its own though is the portability of the service. So, if I have my laptop with me, I can potentially get the same kind of service wherever in the world I happen to be, assuming I have the internet connection of course. On my recent delay at Schiphol, what could have been an incredibly frustrating wait was alleviated somewhat by getting on the wi-fi there. It was 10 euros, which was a bit steep, but I did use it for half a day, and I was able to make various calls that I had to, all through SKYPE. If free wi-fi rolls out the way some people are predicting, it could be very useful indeed. I'm sure I've read already about the developement (or existence?) of phones which use VoIP- could be potentially very interesting competition for the mobile phone companies' extortionate roaming rates! Well, you can't use it as a mobile but you can use it in the house. Unles your house is bigger than 300 meters.... http://www.telestore.dk/shop/default.asp |

Even from here to other countries it is cheaper (by a lot). Perhaps it's not cost effective from NL. But, again, free if you call Skype to Skype! |
