Default Staying in Victoria, Australia

I'm planing to go to Australia for about 2 weeks give or take (in about
3months), travelling from Eastern Canada to the area of Melbourne,
Australia. I obviously want to save money so am wondering...what good
priced hotel/motel/bed&breakfast...are there to help me? I'll have a car
so if worst comes to worst I'll have my luggages in there but need a bed.

Cheers,

Natalie

you'll have a car but won't have a bed? how does that work?
geez, you've obviously never experienced the comfort a car can provide.

Give us an idea of budget, distance you want to be from the CBD, what
you want to see etc. Impossible to answer without a little more info.

To say "the area of Melbourne" - it's a city of nearly 4 million that
spreads across an area 120km in diameter.

*chuckles* I'm aware of that. Basically..we've got wheels..Lorne would
be heavenly but then that must be pricey..Melbourne, in the city would
do..anywhere that's cheap..we're not going there for the accomodations,
we're going there to be in each others company and privacy..Lets say
that the budget is faily low..I've seen some B&B at about $115 a night I
think but I would really love to save money. We thought about camping at
one point but then, the comfort of a bed would be best. The closer to
the coast, the better though!

Why not check out

You will see some B&B accommodation in Lorne which comes in lower than the
one you quoted.
Also some cheaper motel style accom.

Thanks for the pointers Gerrit, I've got the site right in front of me
and will browse very carefully. It's not always easy to come from
another country and try to plan an affordable visit but alas, people
like you guys still exist out there. )

Cheers,

Natalie

....also your desired degree of comfort and luxury, or your tolerance
for incovenience. (E.g., do you mind sharing a shower, sink, and
toilet--all located down the hall--with other guests?) And do you plan
to stay put in Melbourne once you've arrived, or are you thinking of
overnight excursions to areas like the Dandenongs?
