Can I still get on QANTAS standby with Frequent Flyer award ticket?

In the past, when I was unable to book the flight I wanted on a
QANTAS frequent flyer award ticket (ie free ticket using points),
I just showed up at the airport and managed to get on standby.
This wasnt official public policy, but it worked.
With the new rules, is this still possible? Anyone tried since
the new rules came in? (This will be in Singapore, if that matters.)
I can afford the risk of waiting a few flights if they are all
absolutely full.
