Default Club Med Paradise Island Report

The husband and I just returned from a wonderful week at Paradise Island. It
was the perfect, seamless vacation and we were glad to get to go there one more
time.
We flew from KY on US Air to Charlotte NC and then to Nassau
(found the best deal on www.hotels.com which included flights and the Club).
We taxied over to the Club and *sigh* it was as beautiful as ever. The check
in was effortless and the room was available even though we arrived before 3:00
p.m. The room was clean, comfortable, and included a small refrigerator which
came in very handy.
The grounds were exquisite with the flowers and trees in full
bloom, and everything was very well maintained. The ocean was warm and the
beach lovely, though the winds were somewhat high which prevented us from
taking the powerboat excursion to Exuma, something we've always wanted to do.
We swam and drank and ate and exercised and enjoyed taking the water ferry to
Nassau. We talked to some of the staff, and apparently some of them will be
employed by the Atlantis when the hideous takeover occurs. Nobody seemed to
know for sure exactly what will come of the property, but many thought
everything will be torn down! There was also some rumor of something called
"Atlantis Estates" being built there. I am so disappointed that the Club
decided to sell this village, because it was perfect for most of us who travel
from the US and is such an ideal property. Apparently, Atlantis made them an
offer they couldn't refuse. We walked to the Atlantis in the evenings and came
away ahead from their casino :-) Anytime you come up ahead from a casino you
know you've won!
The food at the Club was as wonderful as ever, and we enjoyed the
seafood salads and the wonderful breads and cheeses. The conch fritters were
excellent as well. We usually had lunch at the Grayleath and dinner in the
Porcupine. Many evenings we openly took a bottle of Merlot from the Porcupine
to put in our refrigerator and nobody seemed to care.
I am going to miss that Club! I loved sitting in the Porcupine and
looking out at Nassau and sitting in the Grayleath and looking out at the
ocean. I guess I'm going to have to find another place with its ambience, but
that will be hard to do! Feel free to email with any questions --- you still
have a few months to go!
