Default Hotel near Munich airport.

We'll have a flight into Munich arriving 12 midnight, then a connecting
flight the next day at 11:00 am. Is there a hotel near the airport
where we can spend the night? TIA

There are several in the vicinity, in Halbergmoos, Erding, and Freising.
Halbergmoos has a Mövenpick, Erding a Best Western.

To get an idea of what's available, go to
www.hrs.de and enter
"Flughafen München" in the search field. You'll get a wide range of
choices; check the map entries for each choice to get an idea of how
close you can get to the airport. Some hotels also provide a service
to get you from airport to hotel; you can also take a taxi.

The Mövenpick München Airport looks rather nice at 59 euros a night
(extra 18 euros per person for breakfast though).

Apart from the on-airport hotel, the closest town is the tiny village
of Schwaig. You'll find a NH Hotel, a Comfort Inn, and an Arabella
Sheraton. All are very close, and offer airport shuttles. The Sheraton
is the nicest.

Thanks a lot group. Very helpful.

The sheraton has shuttle service, which cost something like €10 each
way per person!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 min trip. €100 room, €40 transfer
expense.

The place gets overwhelmed at times. food and service at dinner were
the worst I have ever encountered in a hotel(and I've been in a lot of
them). by contrast, they served one of the finest breakfasts I have
ever seen. we had just come from the danieli, and this breakfast was
on a par with the danieli €50/pp breakfast.

Yes, I agree the shuttle is a bit costly. It's comparable to taking a
taxi, though. The nearby NH Hotel used to have a free shuttle, but I
don't know if they do that any more. It was nice because you could
shuttle to the airport and take the S-bahn downtown without too many
hassles.

The NH is a nice, modern business hotel, but lacks any charm. The
Sheraton is nicer (and newer), and more in the Bavarian theme. All
thing being equal, I think the Sheraton is the nicer of the two.

I also agree that the breakfast buffet at the Sheraton is great.

Note that at all hotels in the area you have to pay for parking if you
have a car. However, on-street parking is pretty easy to find, and very
safe in this small village.

Oops, it's not a Comfort Inn, it's a Quality Inn. A reasonably nice
hotel with decent-sized rooms and good service. Nice breakfast buffet.
My biggest complaint is that they had no baggage trolleys to help with
conveying luggage to your room.

As it isn't a taxi (presumably it doesn't come on demand)
why is it reasonable to be a comparable price?

My Wife and I spent a night at Airport Hotel Regentpark. We used the
shuttle and I can say that the staff was great, the food in the restaurant
was very good. The Restaurant has the great atmosphere of a small community
pub and Restaurant. Not the plastic sort of place one expects in a
Sheraton. Prices were reasonable. It is about a 10 min. ride from the
airport. The shuttle was timely. In fact after we were in the shuttle I
realized I had left my camera equipment in the luggage claim area. By the
time I managed to go through all of the security both ways a second time
find my bag and return to the shuttle it was almost 40 minutes. The driver
was still very tolerant and accommodating.

The do not have a pool, or a Gym but I would definitely stay there again.
