Default Lowest LAX-MEL fare for longer stay?

Can anyone point me to a source of lowest fares from LAX to Melbourne? I
going before December 8th and want to stay three months or longer.

Might a round-the-world ticket work out to be cheaper that the LAX-MEL
roundtrip for long stay? I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Hmm... try Japan Airlines. They always seem to be the cheaper than
Qantas and Air Canada, whenever I plan a trip down under.

Visit your local travel agent.

Alternatively, check out:

Air New Zealand www.airnz.com

United Airlines who also code share with Air New Zealand
www.united.com

Qantas who also code share with American et al www.qantas.com

Air Tahiti Nui http://www.airtahitinui-usa.com/

Emriates fly Australia to Auckland, New Zealand so don't overlook a
published fare with Qantas [or American as a code share] for the
AKL-LAX legs

Air Pacific http://www.airpacific.com/ [overnight in Fiji]

Polynesian Airlines http://www.polynesianairlines.co.nz/

You could also try:
www.orbitz.com
www.expedia.com
www.hotwire.com
www.travelocity.com
www.airgorilla.com

or one of the other online discounters.

Be very aware and check out all the rules & conditions relating to
each ticket ie: can the ticket be extended and if so, what are the
fees [often a fee plus difference in airfare] etc.

Cath
