Did they see this fellow, who was seen a few months back posing as a rail
enthusiast at Kings Cross Station in London.

What do you mean "posing a a rail enthusiast"?
How do you know he isn't one?

You'll find that the image of Bin Laden has been superimposed on the actual
image of _genuine_ enthusiasts.

He could well be a rail enthusiast, and possibly does like trains, as far as
I know he hasn't been responsible for hijacking a train and crashing it into
anything. Regrettably there are many rail enthusiasts who are complete
"nutters" - not all of them.

He doesn't have the opportunity to do much train spotting at home - I
believe that Afghanistan doesn't yet have any railways.

According to the CIA World Fact Book:

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/.../af.html#Trans

Transportation - Afghanistan

Railways:

24.6 km

broad gauge: 9.6 km 1.524-m gauge from Gushgy (Turkmenistan) to Towraghondi;
15 km 1.524-m gauge from Termiz (Uzbekistan) to Kheyrabad transshipment
point on south bank of Amu Darya (2001)

This may have since changed, but at 24.6km, I don't know how much train
spotting you could do now.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Eamon
