Default Around the World Tickets

Hello,

I am looking to go on an Around the World trip. I've heard that KLM
offers around the world tickets in different "mile denominations" ie
25000, 35000 etc etc. Do any other airlines offer these types of
deals, and if so, where should I start looking?

Thanks,

Jared

I don't know the score in Canada, but in the USA those airline
round-the-world tickets usually turn out more expensive than buying a custom
itinerary from a round-the-world specialist like Airtreks or Airbrokers.

Star alliance deals are available in the UK for under GBP1000 allowing IIRC
up to 8 stops and max 35,000 miles

You're probably better off going to an agent rather than an airline.

Eg Trailfinders: http://www.trailfinders.com/RTWTickets.htm

Where are you starting from?
Providing that info may result in more specific help.

All,
YOUR OPINION PLEASE
I'm intersted in a multi-stop ticket and wonder if an Around the World
Ticket could work out cheaper. Here's what I'm looking for: (2 adults
33/29 years)
1) Start in London
2) 1st leg to India - Chennai/Madras or Kolkata/Calcutta
3) 2nd leg to Sydney incl. 2-3 internal Australia flights
4) 3rd leg BACKWARDS to Vietnam - Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City
5) 4th leg RETURN to London
I only have 6 weeks

So, is it worth going for piece meal single tickets or an around the
world ticket?
Is a "pacific circle" ticket better?
If I have to go east only, I could do India, Vietnam, Oz I guess.

Thanks, Marcus

You cant go backwards on a RTW ticket

What may be a better option is a return ticket to Australia
with stopovers in India and someplace you can book a trip to
Vietnam , probably Thailand.

I suggest you try a good travel agent rather than trying to
do this through the web or one of the big high street chains

Personally I'd give Trailfinders a call.

On (at least) the Star Alliance world-round scheme, the traditional
'continuous direction' rule has been removed. However, the fare is based
on distance travelled, so backtracking may not be cost effective.

cheers,

Henry
