Toronto airport (YYZ): terminal change

This has been mentioned in rec.travel.air, but I thought it might
as well be posted here too. The former Terminal 1 at the former
Toronto International Airport (called Lester B. Pearson in recent
years), built in 1964, closed today and was replaced by a new terminal
also called Terminal 1. Actually just the first section of it -- once
the old terminal is demolished, the new one will be expanded into the
space it occupied.

Also, all Air Canada flights *other than* US flights are now using
the new Terminal 1. Jazz and other affiliated airlines also use
Terminal 1. Terminal 2 will be for Air Canada US flights only, until
WestJet begins operations out of Toronto. (Or at least that's the
current plan; there has been a dispute about it.)

So if there are problems with the new terminal, people flying in or
out of Toronto today or in the next few days may have some disruption.

One side note -- security strikes again. Whereas the roof of the
old Terminal 1 was a public parking lot and therefore the best place
to go in the airport if you just wanted to watch planes, there's no
such viewpoint in the new terminal.
