Anyone know of a travel group that's moderated? Or a mail list, perhaps?

I don't know of any moderated groups, but this place has gotten a lot more
tolerable by adding certain words and phrases to my killfile. See no evil

I think Lonely Planet has a discussion group on their web site.

I participate in a travel forum that is (loosely) moderated:

http://www.chatarea.com/backpackers

There are loads of others out there. Lonely Planet is a good one (at
least I like it). Some others are Fodors and Eurotrip (emphasis on
European travel, obviously).
