OT Hoel's Cabins - Sedona, AZ (B. Hilton)
Bill,
The poster's question recently about lodging in Sedona got me to thinking about Don Hoel's Cabins (recall the thread?). While I was in Sedona the other day, I took a "new-to-Arizona" friend up through the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, and to Slide Rock. I couldn't find Don Hoel's Cabins. Do you know if they are still there, or are they further up the canyon than Slide Rock? There is still a website, but I sure couldn't see the sign or the cabins. Also, do you recall the old sculpted figures on the creek side of the highway near Indian Gardens? They aren't there any longer. Wonder what happened to them..... Just curious. Thanks and all the best. LH |

The sculptures were vandalized many times. They were made of just
sand. The artist probably got tired of making them. I believe the artist has died.
