Default Zimbabwe situation.

Has anybody visited Zimbabwe recently ? Is it possible to get enough fuel
to travel, and whatabout safety?

Thanks in advance.

Regards from the bush,

Corné.

E-mail me and i will give you an e-mail address on the border who will
give you first hand advice re. safety and fuel. I'm sure safety won't
be a problem, but don't know about the fuel situation.

During last August it was very difficult to find petrol and /or diesel.
Lot of people from Zim. came to Botswana to fill tanks.
Same situation in Zambia but only concerning diesel.

I travelled though there extensively last Christmas. I was driving a
diesel, and it was not a problem at all to get fuel. The one time that
a town was dry, the very next town had cheap diesel. And at no time did
we feel unsafe at all. I think the only time it felt a bit scary was
when talking to the Boer who ran the campground on the SA side before
we crossed over....he had a host of prejudicial nightmare stories, not
one of which had any evidence in fact once we got there.

I have heard that the fuel situation changes regularly, though, and
that it is often impossible to get petrol, but not diesel.

I'm surprised you don't have some contacts, seeing as you are in the
northeast of SA. Possibly some guests at your lodge who are coming down
from Zim? If so, let us know what they tell you.
